Assembling
the Dolly Wheel-Set: (click
for detailed photos)
- Place the folded dolly on the floor. Open the legs and spread them
into a star pattern. Gently tighten the locking knob at the center of
the star
to lock the legs into position. Be careful not to over-tighten.
- Loosen the Leg-Locking Assemblies on the dolly and slide them out
to
the end of each leg. Gently retighten each assembly.
- Each dolly wheel has a large Locking-Tab that can be foot activated
by pressing the tab down with your foot. Once locked a smaller
Unlocking-Tab on each wheel can unlock the wheels by pressing them by
foot.
Adjusting The Tripod Height: (click
for detailed photos)
- Each tripod leg has a set of Quick-Release Knob to increase or decrease
the height of each leg. Flip-open the top Quick-Release Knob on each
tripod leg and allow this section of the tripod leg to extend fully
by force
of gravity. Once extended, lock the legs in place by flipping the Quick
Release
Knob closed.
- Place each tripod leg rubber-foot into a Leg-Locking Assembly on
the dolly.
- Push the dolly's Sliding Pin Forward on each rubber-foot to assure
a snug
fit and gently tighten its knob to hold it in place.
- On the Center Column Bracing System slide the Center Column Ring
to the
bottom of the Center Column and gently tighten the Center column Bracing
Lever-Locks and Center Column Lever-Lock.
- To operate the crank Handle, press in with both thumbs on the black
collar
that surrounds the Crank Handle and then lift the handle up. The tripod
crank Handle will help you make quick up and down adjustments in height.
After height adjustments always gently tighten the crank Handle Lever-lock
to hold the setting in place and keep the binoculars from shaking.
- You are finished. This is the tripod height adjustment that fits
most users needs.
Additional personal adjustments to raise or lower the trip0d height
can be made
from here. When making major tripod adjustments always remove the binoculars
from the tripod and remember to start by loosening the Center Column
Bracing
System lever Locks.
Adjusting Panhead Drag (friction) For Panning and Tilting:
(Click
for detailed photos)
- The Tilt Adjustment handle is on the right side of the tripod panhead.
The Tilt
Adjustment handle increases or decreases drag that adjusts the binoculars
up
and down movement. Gently loosen the handle to tilt the binoculars up
or down.
With the correct adjustment he binoculars should tilt easily, but should
not sag
if left alone. It is a good idea to gently tighten this adjustment when
you are
finished viewing so the binoculars do not sag when you are gone .
- If the Tilt Adjustment Handle is not is a comfortable location it
can be repositioned.
Pull the handle out, Away from the panhead body then rotate it to the
position
you desire and release it.
- The Panning Adjustment Knob is at the bottom right of the panhead.
Loosen
the knob and you can move the binoculars left or right. We recommend
that you
always leave this adjustment loose. If this adjustment is tight and
you try to
turn the binoculars to the left you may start to unscrew the binocular
from the
tripod without being aware of it!
- The tripod Panhead Handle can be mounted on the left or right side
of the
panhead. With this handle you can control all movements of the binoculars.
We
find that it is comfortable for the majority of people to use the handle
of the
left hand side.
Attaching the Binoculars to the Tripod: (Click
for detailed Photos)
- Loosen the Tilt Adjustment Handle then slightly tilt the panhead forward
with
the tripod Panhead Handle. Gently tighten the Tilt Adjustment Handel
and Panning
Adjustment Knob to keep the panhead from moving.
- Rotate (open) the panhead Footplate Knob two revolutions counter
clockwise.
- Having someone to assist with this operation is a good idea the binoculars
are
heavy.Lift the binoculars with Footplate (Footplate comes already attached
to the
binoculars) to the front of the panhead and slide the binocular Footplate
into the
opening on the top of the panhead.
- You will hear a click as you slide the binoculars in place. This
is a safety feature
that tells you the binoculars are in place and will not slide out until
you press the
Safety Button on the side of the panhead. Caution: Continue to hold
the binocular
to prevent them from sliding forward or backwards. Now cent the Footplate
on
the panhead and gently turn the binocular Footplate Knob clockwise until
it
securely holds the binoculars in place.
Congratulations you are now ready to use your
binoculars.
Loosen the Pan and Tilt adjustments and start viewing.
Binocular Viewing Guide: (Printed card enclosed with binoculars)
If you wear glasses first try these steps with your glasses removed.
- Fully extend the binoculars lens shade. Look through the eyepieces
and aim
the binoculars toward a distant object at least 100 feet away.
- Reach down and place your thumbs on the collars below the viewing
lenses.
- Look through the eyepieces. With your thumbs on the collars and your
fingers
placed above lenses rotate both lens collars at the same time, either
inward or
outward, to adjust the two images you see until they become one circle.
- Each eyepiece has its own focus adjustment. While viewing, close
one eye
and rotate the eyepiece focus ring for the open eye until the image
is in sharp
focus. Then close the other eye and repeat for the second eyepiece.
- To change viewing lenses grasp the lenses below the rubber eyecups
and
firmly pull straight out. Replace lenses with the second pair provide
in the
binocular case. When replacing lenses be sure they are pushed all the
way
down to the bottom of the collar they sit in.
Viewing Through Glass Windows
- Place the binoculars as close as possible to windows when viewing.
- For the best results view straight out the window with the binoculars
at a
90-degree angle to the glass.
- Viewing through glass windows at extreme angles may blur your image.
Binocular Care
- Keep binocular lenses clean and free of moisture and dirt.
- When not in use, do not expose your binoculars to direct sunlight
for long
periods of time. When storing or moving your binoculars use their carrying
case. For long-term storage store your binoculars in a cool, dry place.
- When putting binoculars back in their case be sure to turn the lenses
clockwise
to their fullest range. This will lower their profile so they will fit
in the case.
- SkyHawk Binoculars are precision instruments handle them with care.
Do not drop, shake, bump or rattle your binoculars. Binocular optics
can become
misaligned (out of collimation) as a result of rough treatment. Collimation
problems caused by rough treatment require repair by as trained technician.
Such collimation adjustments caused by rough treatment are not covered
by the warranty.
- By following these guidelines your SkyHawk Binoculars will provide
you with
superior optical performance for many years
Cleaning:
- These fine-tuned, precision binoculars need to be kept clean. Gently
squeeze
the air-bulb attached to the lens airbrush provided to remove dust from
the
lenses. Then continue to use the lens airbrush to lightly brush each
lens surface
while blowing air from the bulb to remove additional dust particles.
- From time to time, after using the lens airbrush, you may need to
clean the
lenses more thoroughly. Only use the special lens tissue provided
or Q-tips.
Squeeze a drop of the lens cleaner fluid onto the tissue and gently
wipe down
each lens surface. Use a light touch. Caution: Do not apply
liquid directly onto
a lens; this may result in the liquid seeping into the barrel of the
binocular.
- After using the cleaning fluid and tissue to clean a lens, breath
onto the lens
to apply vapor. Before the moisture evaporates, gently polish
the lens surface
with the clean cotton cloth provided.
