The new America's Cup World Series, a high performance, high-speed international sailing regatta came to San Diego and took the town by storm, literally. The America’s Cup event finished its five days of racing on the heals of a storm front that provided strong winds and an exciting finish for the world’s best sailors.

We were pleased that SkyHawk Binoculars were chosen to add to the viewing enjoyment of VIP and corporate guests located aboard the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum.

The event included speed trails, match and fleet racing for seven
international teams showcasing the new AC45 catamaran.

The AC 45’s are carbon-built catamarans with a solid wing design.
They are incredibly quick, reaching top speeds of 30 to 33 knots.

As always SkyHawk 9600 Binoculars provided the guests with an unrivaled visual experience.

This radical racing catamaran is sleek, fast and includes the danger of flipping over in high winds.

Auto racing enthusiasts would compare these new catamarans to formula one race cars.

San Diego provided a perfect setting for the races. Crowds watched the races from
shore as Navy aircraft carriers along with private yachts provided a striking background.

The America’s Cup series now moves back to Europe before returning for the world championship events scheduled to be held on San Francisco Bay in 2013.

Nearly 160 years old, the America’s Cup is the oldest trophy in international sport.
